Building site Dresden – Project district heating Mickten

In Dresden we are currently laying for DREWAG – Stadtwerke Dresden GmbH District heating pipes DN 250 for supplying the district of Mickten.

Special challenges are the laying under the traffic junction of Leipziger Strasse, as above ground there is still car, tram and pedestrian traffic and the tight schedule associated with this. Ludwig Pfeiffer is responsible for lifting and welding (4h! per day) the pipes. Via a construction pit, 10m long pipes are lifted in piece by piece and pulled into the steel protective pipe via a rail system.

After the non-destructive weld seam inspection and the successful pressure test by DREWAG, the district heating pipeline can be insulated. In the late afternoon, the next pipeline sections are then lifted into the excavation pit.

The reason for the construction site is to connect even more areas from the districts of Mickten and Kaditz to the district heating network of DREWAG. Our experienced and motivated colleagues on site kept to the tight schedule and did an excellent job. We thank them for their commitment and dedication.

In the next construction phase, Ludwig Pfeiffer pipelines will be laid and connected in the underground district heating structure. DREWAG is investing over EUR 3 million in the electricity and district heating line.

Erfurt branch

About one and a half year ago it was time for our colleagues from Erfurt to move to a new site. A major reason for this were the storage conditions and space available at the old site in Stotternheim. In the last years, the fleet of vehicles has been constantly expanded by machines and vehicles of all kinds. These, various bulk goods and also the traffic-technical material and tools need sufficient storage space.

The main clients of the Erfurt branch are Stadtwerke Erfurt (municipal utilities), with its day-by-day business and a weekly emergency service, and the Thüringer Fernwasserversorgung (long-distance water supply) with a permanent emergency service.

Our Erfurt branch employs a total of 15 people, 12 of whom are permanently on site. The branch was established in 1993. Branch manager is Manuel Chwalek. The main field of activity is the construction of pressure pipelines for gas, water and sewage as well as sewer construction. Our Erfurt branch is also a apprenticeship company. Currently we have three trainees as pipeline constructors at this location.

Welcoming of the new apprentices at the Halle branch

August 03, 2020

“Welcome to Ludwig Pfeiffer Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG” was the motto on Monday for our new apprentices at the Halle branch.

Over the next three years, we will train 2 construction equipment operators and 4 pipeline engineers.

The introductory event began punctually at 7:30 a.m. with a short round of introductions and general information about training with Ludwig Pfeiffer by our training manager in Halle, Mrs. Kirchhöfer.

After a short breakfast break we went on to our building yard to hand out the protective work wear.

Equipped with personal protective equipment, the young and dynamic apprentices were given an insight into the various construction sites in Halle – e.g. laying district heating pipes, laying in a potable water pipeline and re-laying pipes. The respective employees on site reported briefly about their construction site and thus got to know their new colleagues directly.

The apprentices are already looking forward to their work on the construction site and can hardly wait to become active themselves.

We wish all apprentices at Ludwig Pfeiffer much success and fun during their apprenticeship!

Heat exchanger for a residential park

For Berliner Wasserbetriebe, we are building a heat exchanger within a wastewater pressure line with a total length of 240 metres, pipe in pipe. The diameters of the two pipes differ by 10 cm. Warm wastewater will flow inside and water used for heating will flow in the space between. After completion, the pipe will be connected to a newly planned residential park with apartment buildings.
